The Denver Film Festival (DFF), the biggest film festival in the Rocky Mountain area, returns with big premieres, red carpets for special guests and more. This 45th edition of the DFF will feature a fully in-person program that includes more than 200 films from all over the world. Many of these productions will be nominated for Academy Awards.
Movie lovers will have a wide variety of productions in different formats. In the 45th edition of the DFF, feature films, documentaries, short films, music videos and episodic content will be presented. At the same time, the programming contains immersive and virtual reality productions, events, panels and parties. There will be films in competition.



A variety of titles
The DFF opens with “Armageddon Time,” a historical drama starring Ann Hathaway and Jeremy Strong. The performance will be at the Ellie Caulkins Opera with a red carpet. Other red carpet premieres include “Empire of Light,” a romantic drama from acclaimed director Sam Mendes, and the Al Sharpton documentary “Loudmouth,” from director Josh Alexander.
“Women Talking” by director Sarah Polley is another of the great productions to be presented at the festival. This movie stars Rooney Mara, Claire Foy and Frances McDormand. With a wide range of world titles, the festival will also show several films in Spanish.
Hispanic movies
“Huesera,” a horror film from Mexican director Michelle Garza Cervera, will be shown at AMC House. Meanwhile, “Chile 1976” is another highly anticipated Hispanic film that arrives at the DFF. This production directed by the Chilean Manuela Martelli explores the struggle of a woman against misogyny and corruption under Pinochet.

Hispanic honoree
Raúl Castillo, a Mexican-American actor and playwright with notable performances in film, television and theater, will receive the DFF Excellence in Acting Award. The award ceremony will take place at the Denver Botanic Gardens before the screening of “The Inspection”, a film in which Castillo plays Rosales, a drill sergeant.
Castillo is well known for his portrayal of Paps in the critically acclaimed independent film “We the Animals.” For this performance, the Mexican-American actor was nominated for the Spirit Award, an award given by independent critics.
