Every first Friday of August, a unique and fascinating event takes place at the Denver Botanic Gardens. It’s called “Sabor,” a grand gastronomic show and multicultural fundraising festival organized by the Colorado Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (CHCC). With over 3,000 attendees, Sabor offers an unforgettable cultural experience where visitors can explore the gardens, taste a wide selection of beverages, and enjoy cuisine from over 40 restaurants, all while being delighted by live Latin music.
Sabor’s purpose goes beyond being a simple event. This celebration serves as a valuable platform to foster connections and raise awareness about diverse businesses and organizations contributing to Colorado’s rich and diverse Hispanic community. Inclusion and understanding of the multifaceted Hispanic market are fundamental to Sabor, which aims to celebrate the culture and contributions of the Hispanic community in Colorado.

Sabor is a multisensory experience that spans 23 acres of beautiful gardens. With over 45 live musicians, more than 35 participating restaurants, and more than 40 creative artists representing cultural icons, this evening becomes a magical and unforgettable encounter. The culinary variety is a highlight of the event, as attendees can embark on a culinary journey through the Americas.

Guatemalan Marimba and Venezuelan Cuatro

Vibrant flavors from Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Cuba, Spain, the United States, and various regions of Mexico blend in an exquisite fusion of beers, horchata, Malbec wines, pisco tastings, tequila, palomas, micheladas, rums, and much more. In addition to the delicious treats, live music stirs the soul with captivating melodies of tango, mariachi, salsa, flamenco, and other Latin styles.
Once again, Sabor has the honor of welcoming outstanding cultural groups from various countries. For the first time at the festival, the enchanting sound of the Guatemalan Marimba will resonate in the gardens, taking attendees on a musical journey through Central America. Additionally, the talented Venezuelan cuatro player, Henry Linarez, known for his artistry and virtuosity on the cuatro, a traditional Venezuelan instrument, will also be performing.

Strengthening the Restaurant Industry
However, the musical offerings are not limited to these groups. Sabor promises a diversity of musical styles, providing a wide range of experiences for Latin music lovers and beyond. “Sabor is not only about delighting the senses but also about supporting and strengthening the local restaurant industry, especially Hispanic businesses, which play an integral role in Colorado’s economy. We look forward to seeing you there,” concluded Mike Ferrufino, CEO of the CHCC and event organizer.
