During the open enrollment period for health insurance plans through Connect for Health Colorado, Alejandro Gómez, CEO of Latin Seguros, emphasized the importance of making informed decisions and seeking professional advice to select the best coverage for each individual or family’s needs.
Gómez stressed that it’s not just about enrolling in a plan but also about carefully evaluating which company offers the most suitable coverage. “It’s crucial to determine if the primary care doctors or community clinics that people visit are covered by the chosen plan,” he explained.
To achieve this, he recommended seeking guidance from licensed insurance agents and enrollment experts. These professionals can provide information on available coverage options and ensure individuals maximize the benefits offered by the insurance marketplace.
DACA, SSN, and Work Permits
The expert highlighted that DACA recipients, as well as individuals with a Social Security Number (SSN) and work permits, now have access to advance premium tax credits available through Connect for Health Colorado, thanks to the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).
The open enrollment period for coverage starting January 1, 2025, ends on December 15. However, Gómez reminded the public that a second phase will be available from December 16 to January 15, allowing those who enroll during that period to receive coverage starting February 1.
