Chairwoman of the Colorado Democratic Party

The word “extreme” is being used a lot this election, but let’s talk about what’s actually extreme thinking and behavior and what’s not.

When you are looking to take away basic rights, that’s extreme.

When you provide tax breaks for the rich and overburden our middle class, that’s extreme.

When you choose money from lobbyists over the lives of our children, that’s extreme.

When you tell people who they can and can’t love, that’s extreme.

When you deny science and don’t take action to help protect our planet, that’s extreme.

When you side with big pharma and not the people, that’s extreme.

When you end DACA and illegally traffic migrants to other states as a political stunt, that’s extreme.

When you want to ban books, that’s extreme.

The people of Colorado don’t want extreme, they want normal. They want to be able to afford groceries and a nice place to live. They want to send their kids to school knowing they will get a good education and come home at the end of the day. They want to ensure their property won’t get ruined by wildfires or their farmland won’t turn to desert.

They want to be able to go to college and not be in a lifetime of debt. They want to decide when the right time is to have a family. Coloradans just want nice normal things. And this is what our Democratic candidates have been fighting for.

In the last few years, our Democratic leaders have passed laws that cap the cost of insulin to make sure Coloradans can afford their medications, have secured money to fix our roads and bridges, and brought broadband internet to our rural communities. They have insured women are making decisions about their health with their doctors and that we are taking steps toward a more sustainable future.

Kristi Burton Brown and the Colorado Republican Party do not want these things. There are more than 15 Republican candidates up and down the ballot who believe the 2020 election was stolen and some who even attended the January 6th insurrection. Trying to overthrow our Democracy, now that is extreme.

Voters deserve candidates who will fight for them and their interests, not those of big business, big pharma, and those who wish to take away our freedoms.  Voters deserve candidates who will respect them, their rights, their freedoms, and their desire to create a better future for their families.
