World Cup fever is already being felt with full intensity on the streets of the Denver metropolitan area. Thousands of fans of all ages have taken over various public spaces across the region to revive one of the most passionate and sacred soccer traditions of every World Cup event: collecting the official Panini album and trading duplicate stickers.
This social phenomenon has completely transformed the weekend dynamics in the local community. In different iconic locations, it is now a common sight to see small and large groups of collectors gathering with lists in hand and stacks of stickers. The Denver Art Museum, the cozy corners of the Tattered Cover bookstore, and the surroundings of the Belmar shopping center in Lakewood have become the makeshift epicenters of this community ritual.
Fans and collectors gather to open packs, show off holographic cards, and negotiate face-to-face. This edition of the tournament generates unprecedented anticipation due to a historic change in the competition’s format. By increasing the number of participating countries from 32 to 48 national teams, Panini has launched the largest collection in its entire history.

Family unity therapy
This translates into an impressive 80-page album that challenges the patience and pockets of fans, who must now acquire a significantly larger number of holograms and players to claim victory. For many of the participants, completing this challenge represents a true family achievement that connects generations.
Sergio Mendoza, an Aurora resident who spent this recent Saturday at Belmar with his two sons, affirms that this hobby goes far beyond soccer, as it has become a therapy to disconnect from technological screens and spend quality time sharing the same excitement he experienced during his own childhood.
