Fitzsimons Credit Union reaffirms its mission to invest in the community’s future through education by granting scholarships to young people with outstanding academic achievement and social commitment. This year, five local students received the Sandra B. Neves Scholarship, an award that not only supports their studies but also fuels their dreams and potential as future leaders. The scholarship was established in 2017 by the board of directors and the cooperative in honor of former CEO Sandra Neves.
Neves, who always championed education as a driver of transformation, often stated that “continuous learning, along with integrity and personal development, is the key to a fulfilling life.” This vision has been carried forward by Fitzsimons’ current President and CEO, Robert M. Fryberger Jr. “We are proud to announce this year’s winners because we know each one represents an investment in the progress of our communities,” said Fryberger Jr.
Beyond scholarships
Founded in 1955, Fitzsimons Credit Union is a nonprofit financial institution that offers more than banking services. It provides free personal finance education, programs to support immigrants and refugees, and opportunities like these scholarships to help young people achieve their goals. Through these efforts, Fitzsimons supports education and cultivates leaders who will, in turn, give back to their communities in the future.
