The story of Adelina Arnold and Mom’s House Learning Center is not a coincidence of success, but rather the result of two decades of perseverance, managerial vision, and a deep commitment to the Latino community. The entrepreneur’s latest achievement —the inauguration of an expanded Mom’s House Academy in Thornton— not only doubles its childcare capacity but also stands as a model of how discipline and personal vision can transform a need into a high-quality community service.
Arnold’s journey began in 2002 in Los Angeles, California. Her first business venture was home-based, serving the needs of local families. “I’ve been working in childcare for 20 years. I started in Los Angeles, California, and had three locations there,” Adelina recalls. Her service focused on “meeting the needs of working parents with very demanding and extreme schedules.” This family-oriented model prioritizes children “learning with love and feeling at home,” Adelina explains.
With that foundation, Adelina moved to Colorado, arriving in Colorado Springs in 2012. Later, motivated by the needs of the local market, the family relocated to Thornton, where they continued operating from their home. That’s when Adelina’s daughter Arianne joined the project to create and run a highly professional childcare service, combining all their knowledge and experience. The persistence of their work in north Denver has been visible through the years and served as the basis for their major expansion.

A Manager with Heart
The steady growth of Mom’s House is deeply tied to Adelina’s leadership style. “She stands out for prioritizing the well-being and dignity of her team, creating an impressive sense of harmony among her teachers,” says Martina, one of her team members. Adelina is firm about her human resources philosophy, built on respect for personal limits. “Each teacher works eight hours —no more. We want our staff to have quality of life so they can give the best care to the children,” Adelina explains.
Her human-centered vision extends to leadership development. When selecting directors, teachers, and assistants, Adelina avoids purely administrative profiles and favors empathy. “I don’t hire just any teacher,” she says. Her philosophy centers on reciprocity and compassion. “I ask them, how are you treated, and what do you receive from us? I expect empathy for coworkers, for children, and for parents. We even go camping together to strengthen teamwork,” she shares.

Expansion and Educational Focus
This vision of comprehensive care became reality on August 15 with the opening of Mom’s House Academy, the new extension of Mom’s House Learning Center. The new facility features 11 newly renovated classrooms for 150 children, bringing total capacity to 248 across both locations. Authorities such as Thornton Mayor Jan Kulmann and the Consul of Peru in Denver, Pedro Pablo Delgado, described the expansion as “an example of the American dream achieved.”
The new center is designed specifically to support working families, offering extended hours from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.—a crucial benefit for parents needing flexibility. Beyond capacity and hours, Mom’s House Learning Center’s main value lies in its bilingual educational approach, transparency, and safety. The staff consists of carefully selected bilingual teachers who guide every stage of childhood development “with love and excellence.”
To build trust, the center uses technology that keeps parents updated on their children’s daily progress. Another key safety feature is full access for parents. “Parents can enter anytime with a code—no appointment needed to see their children,” says Adelina.
Recognition
The quality of Mom’s House Learning Center’s childcare and educational programs has been recognized by state authorities. In its first evaluation under the Colorado Shines rating system, the center achieved a significant advancement. “We received a very high rating, and this was our first recent inspection. It was an achievement that required hard work from every teacher. And every day, we keep improving,” says Adelina, who manages the center alongside her daughters Arianne and Samantha.
Their collective effort shows in the results. “Our children receive care from a very young age and leave with strong foundational knowledge. The older ones are ready for kindergarten,” Adelina explains. Parents agree. For families like Emily García’s, with two children enrolled at Mom’s House, the impact is clear: “My kids have shown incredible social and academic progress. Here, they truly feel at home,” García says.

Beyond excellence in care, extended hours, safety, and technology, Adelina emphasizes that her project is rooted in spirituality. She defines it as a Christian Educational Center, where faith guides both care and education. For Adelina, this spiritual dimension is as important as material resources—it fosters values and a sense of community that support families and children in their holistic development.
