The first edition of the Adams County Latino Festival represents the payment of a debt that that county had with the Hispanic community in that area of Colorado. That county has been the place of residence for several generations of different communities of Hispanic origin. The Hispanic presence has increased in that county, which according to the 2020 census has a 40 percent Latino population. The presence of this population determined a positive population growth, which is why the area gained a representative in the federal congress.

The Latino Festival is a unique collaboration between Adams County government, Adelante Community Development (ACD), Rocky Mountain Partnership and Ranfitas Car Club. This strategic alliance aims to highlight and honor the rich Hispanic heritage that has influenced the culture and community of Adams County. “We hope to build a tradition that celebrates the richness of Hispanic culture. In addition, the initiative is also inspiring other counties to celebrate diversity,” said María González, executive director of the ACD.

This leader ensures that every detail of the event is being meticulously planned. “We are going to have a variety of musical and dance genres and styles. At the same time, entrepreneurs and organizations are being invited so that we have a broad representation and sample of Hispanic initiatives. The festival will also be an example of the unity of our entire community,” said González who explained Adelante Community Development is providing its platform to make the event a success.

Parade of nations

One of the most exciting features of the event is the presence of Hispanic talent in the field of music and dance. The festival will have two stages, each offering a musical journey through diverse genres. With mariachi, band to bachata and reggaeton. “Attendees will be able to immerse themselves in a musical experience full of rhythm and passion,” González added.

An exhibition of high-value classic cars and other family activities will also be presented at the Latino Festival. González indicated that “we will be holding a parade of Latin American countries and everyone is invited to participate.” The ADC board invited representatives of organizations that bring together nationals of Latin American countries to join this parade.

Support for Hispanic Entrepreneurs

The Adams County Latino Festival also offers a platform for Hispanic entrepreneurs, where they can display and sell their unique products. “The Latino Festival will be a vibrant market filled with culinary delights, crafts and other products that reflect the heritage and creativity of the community. This not only provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs to stand out, but also enriches the attendee experience by allowing them to explore a wide range of offerings.

A Space for Community and Unity

González emphasizes that the festival is not only a celebration of Hispanic culture, but also an opportunity for the community to come together and increase their sense of belonging. “In an effort to foster unity, the event will feature community resource activities, such as access to general health and mental health services. In addition, the collaboration with sports organizations such as the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rapids will add an element of sport and fun to the experience,” González concluded.
