We speak with Republican Senator Rick Scott, who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC). From that position, Scott oversees the Republican strategy for the elections to the Federal Senate in November 2022. “I am convinced that the Republicans are going to win the majority of the Hispanic vote in the upcoming elections.” The senator also spoke about inflation and Social Security programs, issues for which he has held a debate with Democratic President Joe Biden.

The NRSC and the Colorado Republican Party conducted Operation “Vamos” in Colorado to reach out to Hispanic voters. Do you have any comments on the outcome of this NRSC initiative?

Rick Scott: We’re working hard to win back a majority of the Senate this year. The future of our country depends on it. Today’s Democrats are a threat to our freedom, prosperity, and way of life. Hispanic voters are increasingly interested in voting for Republican candidates, so it is important that we talk to them. They want to live in a country with a government that values faith, family, work, and quality education for children. That is why they trust the Republicans and will give them their vote.

Biden criticized his plan for social programs like Social Security and Medicare to expire every five years and then be reviewed by Congress.

Is there any reason to be alarmed by his proposal?

RS: No. We should be sure that they have the necessary funds. It is estimated that Medicare would be bankrupt in four years and Social Security would be bankrupt in the next twelve years. I think you must look at those shows every year and say, how are we going to fix them? I think it’s important for Congress to come out and explain what we’re going to do to make sure people continue to get the benefits they paid for for Medicare and for Social Security. It’s what we do with the defense budget every year.

You claim that President Biden has created the current inflation. However, we see that this is not a phenomenon unique to the US Can you explain how the current administration creates inflation?

RS: When Biden was elected, inflation was 1.4 percent. Right now, annualized inflation is at 8.6 percent. When Biden was elected, the average price of a gallon of gasoline was $2.37 a gallon. Now the average price per gallon is $4.80. This administration has taken action to ensure that the United States does not drill for oil and gas.

Gasoline prices are on all products. If you grow food, the oil and gas costs are there due to the production of fertilizer or the impact on the transportation of what is produced. All these things make prices incredibly high for families.

If you look at families across my state and across this country, they’re struggling to fill up their cars.

When Joe Biden proposes to raise taxes on people, it takes money out of their pockets. When you make it harder for businesses to succeed, you take money out of people’s pockets. So, he has caused this. It is causing inflation. So, if he wants to fix the problem, he must resign.
