For 18 years, community leaders and organizations throughout Colorado have come together to advocate for issues impacting the lives of the Hispanic and migrant population. At the Latino/a Advocacy Day, communities directly voice their concerns about key areas of change identified by the community.

The reflections and discussions at the event are valuable for elected officials to prioritize their agendas. Panelists and attendees are expected to highlight the work that Colorado Latinos have done to drive progressive changes in the legislature for over seventeen years.

Bills of Interest

Organizers expect the participation of around 300 people from across the state of Colorado. Some of the bills to be discussed to broaden their scope include HB24-1134 – Adjustments to Tax Deductions to Reduce Burden, and H24-1323 – School Graduation Attire.

“We will come together to advocate for issues that affect our lives as Latinos. This is an opportunity for new activists to learn how to get involved in the community and for seasoned activists to continue expressing their concerns to elected officials,” said Aurea Bolaños Perea, spokesperson for the organizing committee.

Visiting Representatives at the Capitol

After two days of discussions on Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th, the event will conclude with a final outreach day on the steps of the Capitol building in Denver on Monday, March 18th. On the same day, over a hundred community activists will visit their representatives at the Capitol to advocate for the bills of their interest.
