About 740,000 Salvadorans could vote from abroad to elect the President of the Republic and congressmen. The unprecedented aspect of these elections is that Salvadorans abroad could vote not only by mail but also electronically and in person.

At the polling center in Aurora, Colorado, about 1,100 people voted in person, and another 400 voted electronically. “I am happy to vote in person for the first time,” said Armando López, a resident of Aurora.

The atmosphere at the Double Tree hotel was festive. People were very happy waiting in line to cast their votes. The process looked orderly, and no incidents were reported. Most voters did not hide their support for Nayib Bukele’s re-election.
