Fifty people gathered in Sedalia to cut down pines that will be decorated as Christmas trees. The event was organized by Americas for Conservation and the Arts (AFCA), CREA Results, and Promotores Verdes. The activity received support from the U.S. Forest Service (Region 2) and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). The initiative provided the opportunity to cut Christmas trees while also promoting environmental awareness and a direct connection with nature.

Ana Romero, a certified forest therapy guide, sought permission from Mother Earth before cutting each tree, emphasizing the importance of respecting and preserving the natural environment. Participants understood that the felling of these pines actively contributes to fire prevention, promoting the growth of mature trees. Romero insisted that participants were establishing a meaningful bond with nature. This was also a forest therapy to strengthen the immune system during the winter months.
