Dustin Zvonek aspires to be elected as a member of the Aurora City Council. This businessman and former public official claims to have a clear idea of the priorities of what his would entail as a counselor for the entire city at large. “Security is the problem most felt by all. Every Aurora resident has been affected by things such ascar thefts to catalytic converters. The murder rate in Aurora is up 50 percent over the previous decade,” Zvonek said.

The candidate continued, “I had the opportunity to visit immigrant small business owners in the commercial district of Havana. They told me how they fight vandalism daily in ways they have not done in previous years. That’s the reality. I believe that ensuring public safety is a central function of local governments. At Aurora City Council, we must focus on solving the security problem. We must work to make Aurora the safest city in the US.”

Zvonek has a second priority of being elected as a counselor. “Our city must be attractive for businesses and job creators. Aurora must become a city in which businesses can be established easily and without many obstacles. This is the way to create opportunities for all residents. By creating jobs, the city will be an ideal place to work, to live and to raise children,” he assured. The candidate stated that the city must commit to supporting small family businesses.

Experience in Public and Private Sector

Kvonek emphasizes that as councilor “at large” he will have the mission of communicating the vision of the city and summoning different sectors of the city to realize that vision. On the other hand, the candidate stressed that his mission as a councilor is to find solutions to complex problems that have public impact. “I am the only candidate in this race who has experience in the formulation and evaluation of public policies at all levels of government. I combine that experience in the public sector with my understanding as an entrepreneur.”

This candidate is a small business owner and practices business consulting. His career in the public sector includes being state director for the Colorado District 6 Congressional Office. He also served as director of the Senate Minority Leader’s office in the Colorado Legislature. Most recently, Kvonek has served on the City of Aurora Budget Advisory Committee. Kvonek chaired the transportation subcommittee.

Diversity entertainment

Kvonek highlighted that Aurora as a multicultural city is very gastronomically diverse. “When it comes to going to a restaurant, I have two main options, Mexican and Thai food. If I want to eat Mexican dishes, I go to Casa Vallarta in Parker, or La Cueva in Colfax. When it comes to Thai food, my favorite place is Thai Flavor on South Peoria Street.
