JEAN TORRES ROMÁN, LINKED TO THE CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION, TO APPEAR IN DENVER COURT ON AUGUST 21

Federal officials in El Paso have handed over custody of Jean Torres Román, 21, a Venezuelan national allegedly linked to the Tren de Aragua criminal organization. Torres Román is reportedly connected to a violent robbery that took place on June 24 at El Rubí jewelry store in Denver, according to Fox 31 in Denver.
The news station’s report states that Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents in Las Cruces, New Mexico, transferred the suspect to the Denver County Sheriff’s Department for his transfer to Colorado. HSI confirmed that Torres Román is a member of Tren de Aragua, a transnational criminal organization, and a “suspect in the June 24 Denver jewelry heist.”
Torres Román has reportedly been booked into the Downtown Detention Center in Denver on state charges of attempted first-degree murder, attempted aggravated robbery, and menacing. He also has a federal detainer from the U.S. Marshals. Torres Román is being held on a $1 million bond and is scheduled to appear in Denver District Court at 8:30 a.m. on August 21, according to Fox 31.
Brutal Robbery
The robbery, captured on video, shows several young men posing as customers before attacking the store’s female staff and customers. The robbers pulled out guns, forced open an office door, and pistol-whipped two women who fell to the floor. A young woman was seen grabbing a baby and fleeing through a back door during the chaos.
