While there is still a little time left to speak to those who have not voted, I have a few words to encourage you. I am an 81-year-old widow who was a registered Democrat most of my adult life. During those years, I saw essential changes in America where working men and women and their families could find a way to purchase their own homes and begin to provide good lives for their families. There were hard times, but with hard work, determination, and opportunity, America was a good place for most of us, most of the time.

My husband and I were married in November 1963, one week before President John F Kennedy was assassinated. I was devastated, in shock with the rest of the nation. To me, Kennedy and the Democratic Party had been creating a future for those of us who were becoming a prospering middle class—a vision of our own ability to build a life for ourselves and, eventually, our children.

That Democratic Party, which has been there for most of my life, no longer exists. What is now promised, offered as freedom, is now, in fact, an illusion. The party is now well established, and with the government in their control, their decisions will be to stay in power. There is ONE thing they cannot control: our choice to vote in this election and the direction of our own lives as we determine who we really are and what we want for our kids!

Looking back to 2018, I left the Democratic Party and registered as Unaffiliated. I was very disillusioned with the future for my then 14 great-grandchildren, and I didn’t think I would find any remedies in the political process. That was the state of my mind when I met Gabe and Anne Evans. I saw a man who had decided to give up a substantial way to support his family through law enforcement and run as a CO House District 48 candidate. He and Anne had agreed to make a massive change in the direction of their lives.

As I listened and watched, I realized I would also have to be willing to change my mind in order to support Gabe’s candidacy. To participate in the caucus to place Gabe on the ballot, I would have to become a registered Republican. With only a two-party system, that was my only way forward.

So here I am, a week away from the 2024 election, and I need to ask you, even implore you, to vote. Gabe is now running for US Congressional Colorado District 8. He and other conservative candidates are on your ballot. Please vote so they can take us in a change of direction as a country and here in our state of Colorado.

We can trust them and look for solid evidence that they will be able to do that for ourselves and those kids! They are asking us, as we vote, to support them to do all that they can to give us that chance! It’s not too late to vote! They are our fellow Americans! Please reach out to others who have not yet voted as well.

There is such a great opportunity in the Hispanic communities to come together, most especially for the kids! There is so much info out there about Gabe’s qualifications & background – my goal is to urge traditionally voting Democrats to change their mind. It still isn’t really about the political party in our two-party system but about who will have our kids at heart in Washington, D.C. We need to VOTE!
