The Denver School District (DPS) has extended its spring break for two weeks. The Spring break period was supposed to start the last week of March. However, the DPS managers decided that the break will commence next Monday, March 16th.

“Our overriding priority continues to be the health and well being of our students and staff. And after carefully reviewing all of the information available from city leadership and health officials, we have decided to extend our spring break by two weeks, and it will begin on Monday, March 16, “said Susana Córdoba, DPS superintendent.

The school district reported that school facilities will be open until Monday the 16th and Tuesday the 17th to provide families with guidance for this long break. However, classes will not be held those two days. Only a limited number of staff will attend families in need those days.

Preventing the virus

All DPS facilities will be closed from Wednesday, March 18th to April 6th. About three DPS schools had already been closed after learning that at least one person at each of those schools had tested positive for coronavirus. The break will allow schools to be disinfected to fight against the virus.
