Colorado Governor Jared Polis announced a $5 million raffle among vaccinated state residents. The program known as “The Million Vaccine” in Spanish, and “Comeback Cash” in English, will consist of five drawings each with a prize of 1 million dollars. Winners will be announced on June 4th,11th, 18th,25th, and July 7th.

According to raffle rules, only vaccinated state residents can receive prizes. Those who get vaccinated by June 30th will qualify to win on July 7th. This effort to encourage vaccination in the state is supported by the joint work of the Colorado Department of Revenue (DOR), the Colorado Lottery, and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).

This health initiative is similar to the one in Maryland and Ohio. Colorado residents who have received at least one dose of the vaccine are automatically entered to win. Participation in the sweepstakes is based on information from the COVID-19 vaccine records contained in the Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS). The Colorado Attorney General’s office issued a favorable opinion on the program.

The Governor Speaks

“Isn’t it wonderful to be handing out $1 million prizes along with coronavirus protection?” said Polis. The Governor continued, “I hope this exciting public health initiative encourages more Coloradans to get vaccinated now, and those who have already taken this important step are now eligible to win the grand prize. It’s not just about the money, it’s about giving more Coloradans the protection they need.”
