The Boy Scouts of America chose Mike Ferrufino to receive the annual “Vale la Pena” award. “We recognize Ferrufino’s outstanding work which has contributed to providing opportunities for young people. His work has had a great impact not only on the Hispanic community but on the entire Colorado community,” said Elisa Thurston, Development Director at Boy Scouts of America, Denver Area Council.

Ferrufino has served as CEO of the Colorado Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (CHCC) since 2016. He also served as leader in promoting the creation of the fund to support small minority entrepreneurs in Colorado, RISE. This initiative made it possible for many small businesses to survive the pandemic. Ferrufino has been a member of the Mi Casa Resource Center directory and a dozen other organizations.

“We appreciate that Ferrufino’s work allows entrepreneurship and social engagement to flourish in the state’s immigrant community,” added Thurston. In previous years, Ambassador Ken Salazar, Judge Christine Arguello, Senator John Hickenlooper, and the former mayor of Denver, Federico Peña, received the “Vale la Pena” award. Along with Ferrufino, the “Tepeyac Clinic” also received this recognition.
