I am Yadira Caraveo. I’m a pediatrician from Adams County, a legislator, and a proud Coloradan. It’s been the honor of my lifetime to represent Colorado’s 8th District as the 8th most bipartisan freshman Member of Congress. Today, I have a very important message for you. The stakes of this election couldn’t be higher. Everything from public safety to individual liberties to the cost of living is on the ballot this November, and the contrast could not be clearer.

As a doctor, I am focused on solutions, and I have a bipartisan record of working to lower costs, lower crime and expand health care accessibility and economic opportunities for everyone in Colorado. I passed four bills this Congress, and my first bill was signed into law by President Biden last year. This law directly tackles the next wave of the drug crisis by expanding research on the infamous Zombie drug, also known as xylazine.

On the other hand, my Trump-endorsed opponent is hellbent on restricting Coloradans’ access to a quality education, taking away fundamental reproductive freedoms, and raising costs for everyone in our district by vowing to overturn the Affordable Care Act, which provides health insurance to more than 20 million hardworking Americans.

From Adams County to the communities of Larimer and Weld, Colorado’s 8th District is a beautiful district that encompasses a wide variety and diversity of communities and opinions. In our District, we respect our differences, roll up our sleeves, and work hard to support one another. This is what drove me to initially run for office, and this is what continues to guide my work as your Congresswoman.

While we won’t agree on everything, there are so many areas in which I believe we can work together to make life better for Coloradans. As I continue to travel across my beautiful district, and speak to constituents, our desires for the future are clear: We want a future where the cost of living is affordable, and our families feel safe walking and driving across our state.

We want a future where women’s reproductive decisions stay between them and their doctors, without the interference of extremist politicians, like Gabe Evans. We want a future in which all of us have the opportunity to follow our dreams, and build individual wealth for both ourselves and our families. We want a future where people running for office respect the integrity of our democracy.

How can we trust people like Donald Trump, JD Vance and Gabe Evans, when all three of them have failed to trust the legitimacy of our democracy? As a doctor and an elected official, I took an oath to preserve, protect, and defend everyone in my district, and across America.

While many in Washington scoff at the idea of working with the other party, I will continue to work in a bipartisan manner to pass comprehensive immigration reform, make housing affordable for all Americans, protect reproductive freedoms, lower the cost of prescription drugs and health care, and make education accessible for every American across all rural, urban, and suburban communities alike.

As your Congresswoman, I have fought for you when people in Washington wasted their time fighting against each other. The work ahead will not be easy, but do you trust a proven bipartisan problem solver or a dangerously partisan and out of touch politician to work for your best interests? I am looking forward to the work ahead.
