This was the second tournament jointly organized by the Denver Broncos Foundation and NFL Mexico as part of the Foundation’s commitment made last spring to sponsor two categories of NFL Mexico’s national Flag Touch Football program. The 28 female teams that participated in this National NFL Flag Touch Football Tournament wore uniforms representing the Broncos.
Integrating Women
The organization of this national tournament strengthens the NFL’s presence in Mexico and promotes female participation in sports. “With the support of the local community and the enthusiasm of fans, events like this are a step forward in the path towards gender equality in sports. The NFL Flag Sub-16 National Championship in Yucatán will be a milestone in the history of women’s sports in Mexico,” said Jesús Álvarez, NFL Flag in Mexico.
