American alpine ski star Mikaela Shiffrin, possibly the greatest skier of all time, lived up to expectations by winning the women’s alpine skiing slalom on Wednesday at the Milan‑Cortina d’Ampezzo Winter Olympic Games in Italy, held at the Tofane ski resort in the Dolomites.
Shiffrin, 30, completed both runs on the Olympia delle Tofane course — which starts at an altitude of 1,735 meters with a vertical drop of 180 meters — in one minute, 39 seconds, and ten hundredths of a second. She won with clear dominance, finishing a full 1.50 seconds ahead of Switzerland’s Camille Rast, who took silver, and 1.71 seconds ahead of Sweden’s Anna Swenn‑Larsson, who earned the bronze medal.

This victory marked Shiffrin’s third Olympic gold medal. She previously won gold in the slalom and giant slalom at the 2014 Sochi Games (Rusia) and the 2018 PyeongChang Games, respectively.
