Join Families Caravan for Christmas Trees cutting

The Christmas magic is in the air, and that’s why you are invited to be part of a unique Christmas tree-cutting experience. This is an initiative that for eight years has been driven by Americas for Conservation and the Arts, CREA Results, and Promotores Verdes. The activity is backed by the U.S. Forest Service (Region 2) and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).

Interested individuals must register to learn the details. The idea is that participants be prepared to embark on a festive journey to Kelsey Campground in Sedalia, Colorado, on Saturday, December 9, and Sunday, December 10. Based on the experience of previous years, this will be a day filled with family fun. There is a $20 cost associated with cutting the pines, but in some cases, the cost can be waived.

Reasons to join the caravan

“By joining this initiative, participants will contribute to fire prevention by reducing forest fuel, support the growth of mature trees by removing smaller ones, and establish a direct connection with nature, promoting respect and understanding of the environment,” said Irene Vilar, director of AFC+Arts and promoter of this annual event.

Vilar continued, “In addition, by bringing pine needles home, they will improve air quality and strengthen immunity, enjoying health benefits during the cold winter days. The exploration of nearby forest destinations for future camping or hiking adventures will complete this memorable day of festive tree cutting, environmental conservation, and family bonding at the beautiful Kelsey Campground. Join us.”
