Al menos dieciocho buses de transporte público fueron incendiados en Lima en lo que se presume fue un atentado de extorsionistas, quienes han mantenido bajo amenaza al sector todo el año. El fuego comenzó en un aparcamiento del distrito de Ate y se extendió rápidamente entre unidades de varias empresas. Transportistas denunciaron temor y vulnerabilidad, mientras gremios exigen mayor seguridad ante el aumento de ataques criminales en la capital peruana.
