BEGIN CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS IN EXQUISITE FASHION

This December, The Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts will present the dance company Artístico and their newest concert. Their performance, called “Fiestas Navideñas: A Christmas Celebration,” is Artístico’s original interpretation of traditional Mexican Christmas traditions. The celebration will feature dancing, music, and magic inspired by three Mexican celebrations: the pastoreales, the posadas, and the Nativity.

This cultural experience will also include magnificent costumes, never before seen choreography, and special guests from Mexico City. ArtísitCO invites viewers to come witness the energetic and vibrant celebration and dances of such a rich and authentic Mexican culture which will feature more than 50 different local and international artists. Given the success of Artístico’s performance “Amalia” at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House back in September, this new performance is sure to be another spectacular cultural performance.

About ArtístiCO

ArtístiCO Dance Company is based in Denver, CO which was created with the idea that it could serve as a bridge that connects professional artists to the community through dance and movement. The company’s founders are Jose (Chepe) Rosales and Alfonso (Poncho) Meraza Prudente are former soloists of the well-known, international Ballet Folklórico of Mexico’s own, Amalia Hernández.

It goes without saying that they have experience dancing and performing with one of the best to ever exist. Chepe and Poncho created ArtístiCO to give artists a safe and welcoming space to showcase their passion, talent, and expertise as dance artists. Everyone that is part of the ArtístiCO dance company is a life-long dance artist that has more than 25 years years of experience dancing at the highest levels, and for a variety of genres and themes.

History Made

This past September ArtístiCO made history by becoming the first Mexican Folklórico group to perform in the prestigious Ellie Caulkins Opera House in downtown Denver. Their performance named “Amalia,” after the hugely inspirational founder of Ballet Folklórico, was immensely successful. ArtísitiCO hopes to continue presenting amazing performances, celebrating culture, and inspiring young dance artists everywhere.
