The Progressive Left has failed us. They defunded the police, decriminalized drugs such as fentanyl, and allowed gang members and cartels to illegally enter our country and state. Those policies are putting our families at risk.

I’ve been married for 15 years. I want to leave a better future for my two boys. That’s why I was a police officer in Arvada for 10 years, fighting against gangs and violent criminals. In Congress, I’ll make it a priority on day one to secure our southern border, hold cartel members accountable, and stop the flood of poisonous fentanyl into Colorado.

The policies that do work and those that don’t

We know what works: (1) build more wall, (2) restore the “remain in Mexico policy,” so migrants must stay in Mexico until they are legally allowed to enter the US, (3) ensure only legal immigrants like qualified asylees, people with work visas, and Temporary Protected Status enter the U.S., (4) hire more border patrol agents, immigration judges, and deploy cutting-edge technology; and (5) fix the broken immigration system to make it easier for legal immigrants.

In other words, we need to do exactly the opposite of what Joe Biden and his ally in Congress, Yadira Caraveo, have been doing. They opened the border, and criminals and drug cartels took over. These criminal organizations are now trafficking families and drugs into Colorado. That’s why our state is currently the third most dangerous in the United States, and why fentanyl is the leading killer of Americans ages 18-45.

Decisions that have made families less safe

Democrats, like my opponent Caraveo, are soft on dangerous criminals, cartels, and gangs. They seem to value the feelings of criminals more than the needs of victims. They treat our law enforcement and border agents as oppressors. That’s wrong, and it’s making our families less safe.

In the State Legislature, Caraveo’s agenda was clear: She voted to decriminalize fentanyl. Since then, fentanyl overdose deaths have increased 800% in Colorado. She voted for cashless bail policies that put dangerous criminals and cartel members back on our streets. As a result, Colorado had the highest level of auto thefts and bank robberies in the nation.

Now running for reelection, Yadira Caraveo is pretending to be moderate, spending millions on TV ads to confuse voters. But Coloradans won’t be fooled. We know it doesn’t have to be this way.

My commitment

We need solutions, and I’m ready to put my experience to work. My grandfather immigrated to this country from Chihuahua. He earned his citizenship in World War II, and earned two purple hearts in the US Army. I followed in his footsteps. Before I was a police officer, I commanded a company of Black Hawk Helicopters in the US Army. I’ve spent decades working with people from all walks of life.

I believe that together, we can overcome anything.  I’ve spent my career in the military and law enforcement working together to make life better for our families, and everyone in our communities. I’ll take that same attitude to Congress. Coloradans deserve nothing less from their elected leaders.

I humbly ask for your vote in the upcoming General Election for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District. I’ve run towards the challenge in every career I’ve had; I’m committed to doing the same for your family in Washington.
